The Boy Who Refused to Give Up:
Once upon a time, in a small village, there lived a boy named Aarav. He belonged to a poor family. His father was a farmer, and his mother worked hard at home. They did not have much money, but they had one big dream: they wanted their son to become a successful person.
Aarav was an intelligent boy, but he was not good at studies. He often struggled to understand difficult subjects, especially Mathematics and English.
His classmates frequently scored better marks than him. Some students even made fun of him.
One day, after receiving his examination results, Aarav came home with tears in his eyes.
He had failed in Mathematics.
His father looked at the result and asked gently,
“Son, are you sad because you failed, or because you think you cannot succeed?”
Aarav replied,
“Father, I study every day, but I still cannot get good marks. Perhaps I am not intelligent enough.”
His father smiled and said,
Let me tell you something. A farmer does not stop watering his field just because seeds do not grow the next morning. He continues working because he believes that one day the field will be full of crops.”
Then his father took him outside and showed him a small plant.
He said,
“Look at this plant. Do you know how many days it took to grow? You cannot see its roots growing underground, but that does not mean nothing is happening. Your hard work is just like those roots.”
Those words touched Aarav’s heart.
The next morning, he made a promise to himself that he would never stop trying.
The Beginning of a New Journey
Aarav changed his daily routine.
He started waking up early in the morning. He revised his lessons, practised Mathematics and read English for thirty minutes every day.
Initially, nothing changed.
He still made mistakes. Sometimes he could not solve even a simple question.
But this time, he did not become disappointed.
Whenever he made a mistake, he wrote it in a notebook and tried to understand where he had gone wrong.
His teacher noticed his efforts and said,
Aarav, remember one thing: You do not have to become better than everyone else. You only have to become better than the person you were yesterday.”
Aarav followed this advice.
Days turned into weeks, and weeks turned into months.
Slowly, he started understanding difficult concepts. His confidence increased, and he began participating in classroom activities.
The Biggest Challenge
After a year, the final examination arrived.
Aarav had prepared well, but Mathematics was still challenging for him.
When the results were announced, he scored 78%.
It was not the highest score in the class, but it was a huge achievement for someone who had failed the previous year.
His parents were extremely happy.
His father said,
“Today, I am proud of you not because you scored 78%, but because you did not allow failure to decide your future.”
However, Aarav’s journey was not over.
He wanted to achieve something bigger.
He continued his education and worked hard. There were financial difficulties, unexpected problems and many moments when he felt tired.
But he remembered his father’s words about the farmer and the growing plant.
He understood that success does not happen in one day.
The Day Everything Changed
Years later, Aarav appeared for a competitive examination.
Thousands of students had applied for the same opportunity.
When the results were announced, Aarav discovered that he had secured a position among the successful candidates.
He could hardly believe it.
He immediately called his parents.
His mother began crying with happiness, while his father remained silent for a moment.
Then his father said,
“Son, today your result has proved something important. A person’s circumstances may be difficult, but circumstances do not have to decide their destination.”
Aarav returned to his village and visited his old school.
His former teacher invited him to speak to the students.
Aarav stood before them and said:
My dear students, I was once the student who failed Mathematics. I was once the student who believed that he was not intelligent enough.
“But today, I want to tell you that failure is not the opposite of success. It is a part of the journey towards success.
“Never feel ashamed of making mistakes. Never compare your beginning with someone else’s success.
“Some students learn quickly, while others need more time. That does not mean one is more capable than the other.
“Your speed does not define your ability. Your willingness to keep learning makes the difference.”
The entire classroom applauded.
Aarav smiled because he finally understood the true meaning of success.
Success was not just about getting a good position or earning money.
Success was about becoming a person who never stopped believing in the value of hard work.
Moral of the Story
” Never give up because of temporary failure.”
